LE Résumé
Une recherche de la mémoire et de l’héritage de l’arrière-arrière-grand-père du co-réalisateur : l’artiste surinamais et critique précoce du régime colonial néerlandais G.G.T. Rustwijk (1862-1914). Luci est une recherche de la « lumière » de Rustwijk et de ce qu’il en reste dans le Suriname moderne.

LES RÉALISATEURS
Mateo Vega et Mathieu Wijdeven
Mateo Vega (Lima, PE, 1994) est un cinéaste et artiste péruvien élevé à Amsterdam, et diplômé du Sandberg Instituut, de l’Amsterdam University College et de la New School. Le point de départ de son travail est l’expérience subjective de l’espace (urbain) et la politique, l’histoire et les futurités ancrées dans les paysages, l’architecture et les infrastructures. Ses films et installations ont été présentés dans des festivals et des lieux tels que le MoMA, le Film at Lincoln Center (États-Unis), le Festival international du film de Rotterdam, Go Short, Framer Framed, l’Amsterdam Museum, le Theater Rotterdam (NL), DMZ Docs (KR), le Glasgow Short Film Festival (GB), le Guanajuato International Film Festival (MX), le Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (CA), et bien d’autres.
Mathieu Wijdeven (Tilburg, NL, 1991) explore la relation symbiotique entre les gens et les objets à travers des sculptures abstraites, suscitant des réflexions sur des thèmes personnels et existentiels. Son travail a été présenté dans diverses expositions et performances, explorant le lien entre les humains et les constructions. Au cours de la saison 2021-2022, Wijdeven a présenté pour la première fois son spectacle solo « Het waarom beantwoord », inspiré par son arrière-grand-père G.G.T. Rustwijk, un poète et artiste du Suriname. La pièce, qui aborde le Suriname post-esclavagiste, a été acclamée, sélectionnée pour le Festival de théâtre, nominée pour le prix de théâtre BNG Bank et lauréate du Toneelschrijfprijs (prix d’écriture dramatique) en 2022.
