LE Résumé
Un homme livre avec son bateau des marchandises aux communautés indigènes et marronnes le long du fleuve Maroni, qui sépare le Suriname de la Guyane française. Son voyage offre un aperçu du défi que représente le maintien des coutumes locales face à l’exploitation de l’or, aux entreprises multinationales et au changement climatique.

Lonnie van Brummelen et Siebren de Haan
Lonnie van Brummelen et Siebren de Haan collaborent avec des artistes et des cinéastes. Leurs travaux explorent les paysages géopolitiques, tels que les frontières internationales et les sites du commerce mondial, ainsi que les impacts matériels de l’extraction des ressources sur les communautés et les écosystèmes locaux. Depuis 2014, ils ont créé trois longs-métrages documentaires participatifs : Episode of the Sea (2014), Stones Have Laws (2018) et Monikondee (2025), ces deux derniers réalisés avec le metteur en scène surinamais Tolin Alexander. Leurs films ont été projetés dans des festivals de films du monde entier, notamment au FIFAC en Guyane, à l’IDFA (Amsterdam, Pays-Bas) et au TIFF (Toronto, Canada).
Tolin Alexander
Tolin Alexander est un écrivain, créateur de théâtre et interprète surinamais spécialisé dans le théâtre interculturel et les projets communautaires. Son travail est influencé par le Théâtre de l’opprimé d’Augusto Boal. En collaboration avec Van Brummelen et De Haan, il a réalisé les documentaires participatifs Stones Have Laws (Sélection Écrans parallèles FIFAC 2020) et Monikondee (2025). En 2025, il sera commissaire de l’exposition De Bezielde Natuur (Nature fougueuse) au musée et centre de recherche sur la biodiversité Naturalis à Leyde (Pays-Bas).
